Wavy River @ Kallang

Sep 2022 Wavy River @ Kallang

Children’s encounters with Kallang River, past and present.

The event involved peer mentorship, interactions with cellists, engagements with storyteller, visit to source of Kallang River and conversation with MP for Jalan Besar, Dr Wan Rizal bin Wan Zakariah.

At the end, the children co-composed a poem, Wavy River, with an eco-poet.

“The project benefitted my son because he loved to attend the Saturday programmes.  He learnt about Singapore and the environment.  He also loves the cello.  I notice he has become independent.  He can do things himself and always tells me what is going on in the centre and he is so  cheerful and excited when he talks about it.”

Mother of Muhammad Akid Qushairi (Primary 4, 2022 Project)

“My children like this programme. They want to attend the Saturday class. They get to study,
eat healthy food and go out to places where they learn more. I don’t have the money to bring them to these outdoor places so I’m happy that
this programme brings them to many places to learn.”

Mother of Muhammed Irfan bin Mohamad Firman (Primary 4, 2022 Project), Nur Insyirah bte Razali (Primary 2), Muhammad Iryan bin Razali (Primary 1)

“Both my sons are now more calm. They listen well and are happier. They learn about outer space, stories and places that they have visited for the first time. This is definitely a good programme for children to learn so many things and develop their skills”
